Bachelor of Design Futures with Honours at Griffth

The Bachelor of Design Futures with Honours is a new Griffith program which has been created to provide far more than the traditional knowledge and skills necessary for graduates to enter the existing design market. Besides offering majors in Visual Communication Design, Interior Environments and Product Design, it also offers a major in Design Futures where the practice of design strategy can be learnt.The Bachelor of Design Futures with Honours is a four-year degree, intended to better prepare graduates for success in today’s competitive design-related industries. The effect of this change is it will slightly alter the progression pathway from the QIBT Diploma of Graphic Design.Students are no longer able to enter the Griffith University Bachelor of Design (1189) upon completion of their Diploma of Graphic Design at QIBT. Students may now apply for the 2nd year of the Bachelor of Design Futures with Honours (1393) and receive 80 credit points toward the degree. After 3 years, the student may exit with the Bachelor of Design if they wish.

Linkz and the Central Australian Youth Link Up Service are looking for people to volunteer in remote aboriginal communities. Volunteers would assist in the running of a local computer and internet room in the community, as well as provide support to the Youth Program. Volunteers will be expected to work ‘full time’ and work with the Youth Program outside of school hours and during events. All costs for volunteers will be covered, including flights, transport and accommodation, as well as a $200/week stipend to cover the cost of food. Hear from staff and volunteers about the volunteer and work experience programs that Projects Abroad operates in 30 developing countries. Projects are across a variety of areas, including teaching, childcare, conservation, human rights, healthcare, and community work. The countries that Projects Abroad work in include Kenya, Nepal, Cambodia and Peru.
