Uni of Wollongong early entry - VERY IMPORTANT
Early Entry schemes: Posted 16-10-13 Deadline - No Deadline
I have been contacted by UOW and sent this to be given to Year 12 students: Any student who has not received their outcome by email is to contact us on 1300 367 869. Our staff are able to verbally confirm that they have been successful in their application to at least one course at UOW through EA. I would like to correct a number of misunderstandings that are in social media circulation about problems with offers, by emphasising that Not all applicants have been affected No applicant who was unsuccessful in applying for admission through EA was erroneously made an offer to UOW. All applicants who received an offer through EA for UOW still hold at least one valid offer to UOW, even if it is was not their first preference course. UOW’s Early Entry scheme is not conditional on receiving a published ATAR for the course. The only requirement to formalise the offer is for the applicant to have the course we have offered as their first preference by Tuesday 3 December to enable our offer to be formally issued through UAC in the early round of offers which are made on Wednesday 5 December. Those applicants through EA who were not successful in receiving any EA offer are still eligible to receive an offer from UOW through UAC in the main round in January 2014, provided their ATAR meets course entry requirements

Gap Medics
Gap year: Posted 10-10-13 Deadline - No Deadline
The road to becoming a doctor can be a tough one, but with the Gap Medics Australian Summer program, students will have the chance to gain work experience that will truly make them stand out from the crowd and break into their dream career. Gaining a place at university or medical school is becoming increasingly more difficult, with more and more students wanting to study towards these rewarding careers. The best thing for aspiring medics to do is to seek out work experience that is not only going to benefit them and their studies, but also grab the attention of the universities they are applying to. Aspiring medics between the ages of 16 -25 can join Gap Medics this summer on the annual Australian Summer program in Thailand or Tanzania from 5th January 2014. Here they will shadow healthcare professionals in a variety of departments, getting a real-life insight into the work of medical professionals in a new and exciting country. Each year there are hundreds of Australian high school students aged 16+ who experience first hand what working in a hospital is all about during their summer holidays. Alongside gaining beneficial work experience, students will be able to get together with fellow Australians and experience everything the amazing destination has to offer. From days spent running around the busy hospital wards, to evenings watching wildlife down by the waterhole or cooking over an open fire with all of the fellow housemates. There are even wildlife safaris and hill-tribe treks to uncover at the weekends for those who are looking for a bit more exploration! Places are limited to 187 students and fill up quickly, so students should book early to avoid missing out.
