Newcastle Uni Open Day will be held on Thursday June 29th which is the second last day of Term 2. To get an idea of the number of students wishing to attend and so I can book a bus, please give your name to me on Thursday, Friday or Monday. Permission notes and money will be due later this term. The bus will leave Tamworth at 5.15am and return at approx 8pm. This cost will be about $25 (TBC). You will have the chance to attend a series of lectures on courses and uni facilities. Rural/Remote Admissions Scheme (RRAS) for Medicine at the University of Newcastle: The Faculty of Health, University of Newcastle is introducing in 2006 (for entry in 2007) a Rural/Remote Admission Scheme (RRAS) for the Bachelor of Medicine program. This scheme is aimed at increasing the number of rural/remote origin students selected for entry to the Bachelor of Medicine program at Newcastle. To be eligible for consideration under RRAS an applicant must be able to demonstrate that they have resided for at least 5 years, consecutive or cumulative from commencement of primary school, in a rural/remote location. Selection and application details will be available in June 2006 at their website. Metro Screen Open Day

Metro Screen invites those interested in a career in the film industry to join free interactive workshops, gain advice from industry professionals, view short films and documentaries made by students and members and visit the Film Industry Market. They send this information: the Open Day runs over two days, June 2nd and 3rd. Friday will run from 10am to 3pm and has been allocated for Schools and Groups with bookings essential. Saturday is our community day open to the general public, bookings are advised but not essential. INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS: Industry professionals lead workshops in video production (camera and sound) in our Blue Screen Studio 1, and editing, post production using Final Cut Pro software in our Mac computer lab. Workshops are half an hour in length. FILM INDUSTRY TALKS: Hear from a range of successful professionals working in the film industry and gain tips and advice on how to start your career. Talks are half an hour in length. SCREENINGS: Metro Screen’s Casting Studio 2 will host screenings of short films, documentaries and television projects made by Metro Screen’s students and members. FILM INDUSTRY MARKET: Located in our foyer, staff will be available to answer your questions about courses, equipment, and general information about how Metro Screen can start you on a path into the film industry.
