RSA & RCG courses this term?

I am thinking of organising RSA and RCG courses to be held later this term or early term 3 and also in November after your HSC. These courses will be held at school for aprrox. $60 each (depending on numbers) and go from 3.15 - 8.30pm ish. If you are interested, please see me asap or email so I can see if there is enough intereste at this stage or I forget about it. You don't need to be 18 to do the course but cannot use them in a workplace until you are 18. Both courses improve your employability options for part time work at the end of this year and when you are doing further study. Please let me know if you are interested.

Careers Q & A Forum 24th May

At lunchtime on Thursday 24th May there will be a Careers Q & A Forum held. This is for students who have career and course questions. If you don't know something, others will probably have the same question. I will also be talking about cadetships, giving general scholarship advice and mentioning early entry schemes for university. Next Monday 21st May, at lunchtime in the AV room there will be 2 medical students (4th & 5th year at Newcastle uni) here to talk to interested students in Year 10, 11 and 12. They will discuss UMAT, application process, medicine courses and general advice if you want to do medicine or specialise in emergency, surgery etc etc. this will be in A1 at the beginning of lunch. Career Industry Day

Last week I, along with other local Careers Advisers, attending the Career Industry Day organized by Careers Network Inc. During the day we visited local employers and spoke to them about career paths and options, especially for young people. These included : Tamex, Tamworth Regional Council, Wests Diggers and Austam Homes. Between them these organistions employ over 800 employees. This was a very useful day and provided much information about employment prospects for students when they leave school. If you are interested in working for any of these groups, please see me.

Jason should know - he was awarded one the prestigious accounting scholarships from UTS worth $30,000- $40,000. Come along hear what he has to say. Bring your lunch.

The big UNSW Co-op scholarship program

Accounting cadetship in Tamworth for 2008

Any Year 12 students interested in a career in accountancy may be interested in a cadetship being offered by a local company beginning in February 2008. With a cadetship you work and earn money and study part time/externally so you end up with qualifications, experience and money in the bank. Cadetships are a good option and you need to be successful in getting a place at university into an accounting/commerce etc course. See me for details of the local company and whom to contact.

Year 12 in study periods - changes

At the beginning of each study period, Year 12 students can choose to either go to the library and work or go to the Year 12 courtyard. You are asked to sign in first at the library desk and then go to the area you choose so that it is easy if staff need to find you or office staff have a message for you.

Students will be attending at the following times: Year 10 will attend during P1 and P2, Year 11 will attend during P2 and P3, Year 12 will attend during P3 and P4. Pay $1 as you get on the bus. If you forget your money, borrow it from a friend. Collect information and talk to employers, TAFE, colleges and Uni representatives. Plan who want to see or what kinds of exhibits you want to visit.
