Careers in Rail
Career Choice: Posted 27-8-14 Deadline - No Deadline
Rail Careers Week is being held from the 8-14 September. Rail is a strong industry with a prosperous future, however it is not always top of mind for those searching for a career. With forecasted industry expansion, attracting a suitable pipeline of skilled and talented employees to meet future demand is essential. With your help, we aim to connect with the next generation of employees through Rail Careers Week and promote Rail’s many advantages. Whether potential candidates are leaving school, changing careers or returning to the workforce, the rail industry seeks to attract applicants who are able to bring a variety of skills and attributes which will not only offer them a fulfilling career but will add value to rail across the Australasian region. Although Rail is a major national industry, employing more than 110,000 people in a wide range of occupations, disciplines and professions, not many candidates consider rail when they are searching for a career. With more than 180 rail organisations located all across Australia and New Zealand, the industry provides a wide range of employers comprising private and public operators, passenger operators, freight operators, track owners and managers, manufacturers and suppliers operating in urban, regional, and rural areas of Australia. Each person working in Rail plays a vital role in providing quality customer service, designing, building and maintaining new trains and infrastructure. They are working to ensure efficient and safe railways for the future.
